I was fortunate to visit Kauai for the first time recently. One day, while I was out walking, I came across this grove of palms rustling in the wind. The sounds and curving shapes of the palms intrigued me. What's wonderful about working in watercolor is the immediacy of the medium so I was able to quickly incorporate my response to the winds, movement, the pinks of the buildings and the repeating shapes of the windows into this lively rhythmic watercolor.
